I spent up until 4 in the morning outside of her mansion making sure she was OK. Nick suggested that I should drop the whole matter and leave West egg. I told him I would never consider leaving her behind-I love her too much. Since Nick has been my one true friend up until this point, I decided to tell him about the story of Louisville and how I met Daisy. After all, it was he who said when he left that I was better than all of them put together. That really stuck with me.
Anyways, I have nothing else to do right now. I haven't used the pool all summer-might as well use it now.

I can barely type
Everything has hit the fan. I really don't know where to begin...
Some backdrop to the day's events. I first went to Daisy's house over on East egg. Daisy suggested that we all should go to New York, and her husband agreed with her. So I drove with Daisy in Tom's car and we finally made it into the city. We agreed that we would stay in the plaza hotel. One thing I forgot to mention- the temperature was boiling the mercury in the thermometers. It was blazing.
Everything figuratively started to heat up when the brute Tom decided that he wanted to confront me about Daisy in front of everyone. He decided it would be manly to make fun of the way I say "old sport." He then he goes on about I never attended Oxford (I did, but for 5 months only). What was I supposed to do. I just dispelled his little theory. But then he want's to know what I've been doing with Daisy! I decided I wanted to stand up for myself finally: I said that Daisy loved me and not him.
Of course he was shocked. Who wouldn't? I caught a glimpse of Nick and saw how even how we caught in the middle of this, he said nothing. He had been an observer this whole time. Anyway's, I digress.
So Tom goes on and on about how I was wrong and how Daisy and him had a connection I wouldn't understand, so on and so forth...What really hurt me was in the middle of all this, Daisy said that even though sometimes she doesn't love Tom, it would be foolish to think that she never did. Even worse, Tom sent us both back to East Egg and wasn't even bothered I was taking Daisy! It's like he was emasculating me!
She was driving through the Valley of the Ashes- The place between the Eggs and the city. She didn't notice a woman in the road. She ran over her and kept driving. I was shocked. As I explained to Nick later that day, I would obviously take the fall for Daisy, but I was still nervous for Daisy's welfare. I guess I'll have to find out later.
Also, to anyone concerned about the parties. Due to recent events and some unsavory rumors about me, I have suspended the parties and fired all of my current butlers.

So Daisy finally went to one of my parties...
...and it was absolutely terrible. She did not like it one bit. I thought it would be great. I feel like I didn't do enough to spend enough for her to be happy. The weight of this is just pulling me down.
Before Daisy ever came, her husband, Tom, came over to my house with some other people. Nick came later too, but that didn't really diffuse the situation. It was so awkward and nervous about seeing Tom up close. I had no idea what to talk to him about-I just awkwardly blurted out that I knew Daisy. Thinking about that just makes me cringe. I'm really too queasy right now to type anything else, but if I have new updates about Daisy.

Finally meeting Daisy face to face!
So in a previous post, I mentioned I talked to Jordan Baker at a recent party. When I talked to her, I managed to convince her to talk to Nick about inviting over Daisy for tea. It would be a perfect place for me to finally get Daisy and I in the same room again. I was able to talk to Nick myself as well and he finally agreed too! So the plan was now perpetual...
I had gotten to make sure that Nicks grass was cut as well as getting a lot of flowers for when Daisy came by. Those minutes waiting for her were probably the most stressful i had experienced in a while. I was so unsure, so nervous, I feel like every pore of my body was leaking sweat. I really hoped it would be the same as when we were in Louisville. Here's an unflattering picture of me waiting.
When she finally did come and I faced her, she still seemed like the perfect angel that she was when I first met her 5 years ago. She was charming, sophisticated, wealthy- I don't think she could be anymore perfect. It was a little awkward at first, but by the end of the day I was throwing at her expensive English shirts and she was loving every minute of it. I feel like I'm so close! I really hope this works out.

Lunch with Nick
After I had hung out with Nick in the morning, I decided to take Nick along a lunch with my friend Meyer Wolfsheim. I explained to Nick that Meyer made his wealth making shady dealings, including setting up the World series: Here is a great article that explains it all. I don't do shady dealings myself, but I hope I didn't give Nick that impression. I still need him to do something for me; I'll explain probably in the next post.
Party over the weekend
So, like usual, I had another party over my house this weekend. I did send that invite to Nick, and I was kind of hoping that he would eventually show up (I'll go into more detail later.)
So, like always, it was packed with huge amounts of people just having a raw, unadulterated good time. I try not to associate myself with all their shallow interests, like their drinking and social statuses. I was mostly just looking around wondering Daisy came this time. No such luck :(
Anyway, I decided to go around to see some of the guests. I noticed one man in particular that I thought I saw before. I went up to him and we figured out that we had been in the same division in the war. Happily surprised, I invited him to go on my boat later on. He accepted my invite, and asked me if I had seen the host. I was taken back; Not to seem pretentious, but I thought everyone knew my name. I introduced myself as Gatsby, and I think he had a bigger reaction than I did XD. I finally realized it was now Nick, so I decided to leave him alone. I called over his date, Jordan Baker (a big sport star) to have a little talk. After we had finished, I reminded Nick of the the arrangement of the boat and that was pretty much the whole night.

New Neighbor
I recently found out today that someone has moved in right next to me. From what i hear, its a man named Nick, whos also apparently a cousin Daisy! I'm going to invite him to my next party, not cause of his "connections", but because I want to be a good neighbor. But if one thing leads to another...well, I can't say ;)
