A little more about me

As many know, I have parties at my house practically every weekend. So many people come to these parties. It's not necessarily bad, but I always think that somethings missing.

A little backdrop: I went to fight in the war around 5 years ago. While I was stationed in Louisville at the time, I met a beautiful girl named Daisy. Some of you might know her now as the socialite who lives in East Egg. But in Louisville, even before she was married, she was still pretty high class. We really hit it off well, but I was scared. I was just a poor farm boy from North Dakota. She never would've looked at me if I told her the truth. So I told her a little white lie. I told her that I, like her, was also pretty rich and classy. Thank God she never picked up on the lie. In the end, I convinced her that I was good enough for her. We had a mutual feeling of admiration for each other, and that loosened that huge knot in my stomach. Before I was deployed, she promised that after the war, we would meet up again. I was feeling pretty good :)

After the war, I found out that she never did keep her promise. When I studied at Oxford after the war, she went ahead and married Tom Buchanan. I know that she didn't really love him, but how was I gonna reach out? I figured that if I threw some really happening parties at my place, she would eventually be interested enough to come over. Unfortunately, she hasn't yet, but a man can hope :/

After the parties end, I usually like to take a walk to the docks to look at the Bay. In the far distance you can see the shore of East Egg. In this picture, the green light is coming from the dock where Daisy lives. When I see the Green light, it reminds me of all the things I wished for between Daisy and I. I like to imagine that it represents my hope to be with Daisy. That just makes it worse, because it just seems so far away...:(

Anyway, that's my story. Anyone have other stories of being crushed?
